The Tanzania Magistrates and Judges Association is led by its President, who serves as the principal representative and custodian of the Association’s vision. Through principled leadership, the President guides TMJA in promoting judicial independence, professional excellence, ethical conduct, and continuous capacity building among magistrates and judges across Tanzania. The office embodies the collective voice of the judiciary in advancing justice, integrity, and public confidence in the legal system.

About TMJA
The Tanzania Magistrates’ and Judges’ Association (TMJA) is a professional body uniting Judges and Magistrates of the Judiciary of Tanzania. The Association is dedicated to promoting judicial independence, professionalism, and the effective administration of justice in a democratic society.
Guided by its Constitution, TMJA works to safeguard the dignity and integrity of judicial office, advance continuous judicial education, and protect the rights and welfare of its members. Through national leadership, regional branches, and collaborative engagement, the Association contributes to a trusted, independent, and credible Judiciary in Tanzania.
Membership of TMJA encompasses all Judges and Magistrates of Tanzania, with provisions for life members, honorary members, and affiliated organizations that support the administration of justice. The Association is governed through democratic and transparent structures, with the General Assembly serving as its supreme organ, supported by an Executive Council, Secretariat, and specialized committees.
In fulfilling its mandate, TMJA collaborates with like-minded national and international associations and maintains constructive engagement with stakeholders in the justice sector. Above all, the Association remains steadfast in its mission to strengthen public trust in the Judiciary and to support a fair, impartial, and credible justice system for the people of Tanzania.
